Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is a fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by the Norwegian computer video game developer company Funcom for PCs.

Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is a massively-multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) based on the world and works of acclaimed author Robert E. Howard.  In Age of Conan, players enter Hyboria with thousands of their friends and enemies to live, fight, and explore the dark and brutal world of King Conan.

A world where the rivers really flow, the snow really falls and the mountain views are truly breathtaking. A never ending world where you can shape your character, your class, your weapons, your mounts, and your culture. A treacherous world of evil monsters, demons, gods and vicious and sexy murderers. An evolving world of player-made towns, enemy fortifications, and player-initiated group sieges. It's a world where you must fight to survive.

Like many other MMO games, there is a monthly subscription fee. The suggested retail price of an Age of Conan subscription card is $29.99 (€19.28) for two months. Another available option is a recurring monthly subscription plan paid online by credit card, usually costing $14.99 (€9.63) a month. Discounts can be obtained when subscribing online by purchasing multiple months of play time simultaneously; however, the first month is free.

Comments:

It is one of the most advance MMO I have every played.  It is very enjoyable, realistic, and desirable to play.

I love the combat system - which makes this game different to many others.

The graphics, textures, scenes and sounds are amazing and truly an art to behold.

The story line is rich and well developed.

The single player line is nice to have but not perfect.

It like any online game can be more perfected, but then nothing is perfect is it.

Complaints:

1. It requires a very high end computer system to run it well.

2. Let me think for a moment - It could still some ideas from WAR on quick access to public player versus player combat.

3. Personal Complaint - I purchase the per-order and special edition - I never got my mount from the retail store as promised!

It pissed me off so much, that I did end playing the game earlier then I had planed.  Mind you no fault on FUNCOM part.

But the mount code cards where being sold on EBAY like crazy for more then the new game purchase, and mine never came.  I wonder how many of them got re-routed to EBAY. Instead of to the people that was suppose to get them from retailers with less then honest employees.

Why is it not the best online MMO out there?

My opinion on this will not be well received... but since this is my soap box here it is anyway.

Age of Conan (AoC) much like DDO - Dungeon and Dragons Online - has a very mature setting and requires some intelligence to really appreciate what it is and how to play it well.  Basically the game is too advance for the majority of people who play WOW.  Why - because you can not be half drunk, or stoned and play this game well.  So since a large part of WOW are people that fall in to that category.  This game like DDO will not excite them long term.

I do believe that it will with time have a strong but smaller fan base, bigger the DDO but not like WOW.

Conan Online is worth buying and playing for a mature sober player with a higher end computer.
